Welcome to the website of Philip Ferguson Jones MMAA RMIP.
Philip Ferguson Jones graduated from the Wrexham School of Art in 1997 and went on to work as a designer for various graphic studios and web companies becoming a freelance illustrator and developing an interest in medical illustration in 2002. In 2005, Philip began post graduate training with the Medical Artists' Education Trust, studying at the Faculty of Medicine at Manchester University and the Royal College of Surgeons, in anatomy, physiology and pathology.
Philip has run a successful medical illustration business, with a varied and full portfolio ranging from poster work for the Royal College of Surgeons to patient information booklets used throughout Europe and USA. He has illustrated for a number of papers published in journals including Eye (Nature Publishing Group) and the British Journal of Ophthalmology.
In 2007 he was awarded the Ronald Raven Bequest from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and in 2008 was awarded funding from the Worshipful Company of Barbers and Surgeons. These awards have allowed him to study with a number of leading artists in the UK and abroad. Highlights have included his studies in Florence and Bologna and also working with facial reconstruction artists Richard Neave, Denise Smith and medical illustrators Philip Wilson and Debbie Maizels.
Philip is a Registered Medical Illustration Practitioner and a member of the Medical Artists Association of Great Britain.
